Climate Literacy Training for Heritage Professionals in Central Asia
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan
Implemented by ICOMOS, this project strengthens the capacity of heritage professionals from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan to address climate impacts on cultural heritage. A regional training in Samarkand will bring together 15 participants from five countries to learn about climate science, risk assessment, and adaptation strategies. The course—developed under the Preserving Legacies programme—includes a train-the-trainer module, local case studies, and mentoring to ensure lasting impact. Partners include IICAS and the Central Asian Archaeological Landscapes Project at University College London.
