Urgent consolidation and emergency conservation works have been carried out by the Hebron Rehabilitation Committee (HRC) at the World Heritage Site of Hebron/Al-Khalil, inscribed on the List of World Heritage in Danger since 2017. Faced with accelerating deterioration due to environmental factors, parts of the Old City were at risk of irreversible damage. The project delivered timely interventions across 20 heritage sites, including structural consolidation, roof protection, and careful façade repairs using traditional materials. Cracked buildings were also monitored to reduce the risk of collapse. By combining emergency action with traditional techniques, the project helps safeguard Hebron’s historic urban fabric and supports ongoing efforts to remove the site from the List of World Heritage in Danger.
