The Sudan National Museum, home to the country’s most important archaeological collections, was heavily looted and damaged during the recent conflict. With the return of control in 2025 and the imminent rainy season, the building and remaining collections face urgent risks. This emergency project will assess, document, and stabilize the museum’s collections and infrastructure. Key actions include documenting looted and remaining objects to support recovery efforts, securing the building, and protecting vulnerable artefacts. It will also develop detailed documentation and action plans to guide future conservation and rehabilitation.
