Emergency Repairs and Stabilization of the Water Tower at the World Heritage Site of the Rachid Karami International Fair
Tripoli, Lebanon
Designed by Oscar Niemeyer, the Water Tower at the Rachid Karami International Fair is a key modern heritage landmark now at risk due to severe corrosion, concrete loss, and long-term exposure to a marine environment. A 2025 inspection revealed critical structural damage and a risk of partial collapse. This emergency project will stabilize the tower through diagnostic studies, 3D documentation, structural support, and targeted repairs to concrete and steel, in coordination with the Lebanese Directorate General of Antiquities.
