The ‘Alha Mosque, first mentioned in the 1830s, is one of the rare standing monuments in Soqotra, the island best known for its natural heritage. The Mosque has been heavily damaged by cyclones and heavy storms.  This emergency project to begin the restoration of the Mosque is documenting, assessing, and undertaking urgent conservation measures in view of a full rehabilitation in the near future.
