Heritage Emergency Training in Gaza
Gaza, Palestine
This project strengthened the capacity of Palestinian heritage professionals to respond to damage caused by conflict. It began with an online training session in May 2024 on risk management and first aid for cultural heritage, bringing together over 60 participants from Gaza and the West Bank. Delivered in Arabic and adapted for limited connectivity, the course provided essential knowledge for emergency response. Building on this, an in-person training was held in Cairo in February 2025, focusing on damage assessment and structural stabilization of built heritage. Around 20 Palestinian heritage professionals took part in hands-on sessions, forming a trained team ready to intervene in Gaza when conditions allow. Together, these training programs contribute to establishing a coordinated and skilled network for heritage protection in crisis situations.
