Postdoctoral Research Support – Afghan Heritage
Afghanistan
This project supported Afghan architect and heritage specialist Mossadeq Sayed Khalili through a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at the CRAterre research laboratory (ENSAG, Grenoble). Unable to return to Afghanistan, he continued his research on earthen architecture and heritage preservation. Focusing on key sites such as the Bamiyan Valley, Jam Minaret, and Herat Old Town, the research contributed to the study of conservation challenges and risk mitigation strategies. Conducted in dialogue with national and international heritage actors, the project helped advance knowledge and support the long-term safeguarding of Afghanistan’s cultural heritage.
