Preserving Islamic Manuscripts in libraries of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan
Uzbekistan
The rare Islamic manuscript collections in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are particularly fragile. The project strengthens conservation skills in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Led by STERNA with local partners, it will deliver eight training missions on preventive care, environmental monitoring, and emergency response. Over 20 professionals will be trained, and two key manuscripts conserved as case studies. The project also equips local institutions to become regional hubs for heritage preservation.
