Preserving the unique earthen architecture of Shibam
Shibam
This project will rehabilitate key buildings in the UNESCO-listed city of Shibam, renowned for its unique earthen tower houses. It includes the restoration of three public buildings—among them the South Palace, to be converted into an ethnographic museum—as well as up to 63 residential houses damaged by conflict and heavy rains. By addressing structural damage and improving living conditions, the project aims to preserve Shibam’s exceptional architectural heritage.
