Preserving the World Heritage Property of Sarazm
Tajikistan
The UNESCO World Heritage site of Sarazm is an ancient archaeological settlement in Tajikistan that dates from the 4th to 3rd millennia BCE. The site faces threats from flooding, humidity, and urban encroachment. This project will focus on protecting the necropolis by erecting fencing and creating visitor paths, improving museum storage and infrastructure. It will also train museum staff, heritage professionals, and youth in conservation and visitor engagement, helping safeguard both the site and its collections for the future.
