Protecting and Safeguarding Palestinian Endangered Heritage in Jerusalem
Jerusalem
The Khalidi Library, a historic Waqf institution in Jerusalem, holds one of the region’s oldest collections of Islamic manuscripts and archives. In 2025, one of its annex buildings was forcibly entered, highlighting the vulnerability of the site and its collections. This project secured, documented, and preserved newly recovered archives by improving storage conditions, creating detailed inventories, and digitizing records. It also enhanced site security through reinforced access and surveillance systems, ensuring the long-term protection of this important documentary heritage.
