Protecting Heritage at the Barthélémy Boganda Museum
Bangui, Central African Republic
The Barthélémy Boganda National Museum, the only national museum in the Central African Republic, holds a unique collection of archaeological, historical, and artistic objects. Severely affected by looting and damage during the 2013 civil war, its remaining collections have since been stored in unsuitable conditions, putting them at risk of further deterioration. This project will focus on stabilizing the collections by removing objects from damaged storage, cleaning them, and rehousing them on appropriate shelving. It will also provide training for museum staff to strengthen long-term conservation and collection management.
