The historic ports of Damrila and Lahori Bandar in Sindh are under threat from rising seas and coastal erosion. The objective of this project is to urgently document the partially submerged Damrila site using GIS (Geographic Information System) mapping, excavations, and artefact recovery. At Lahori Bandar, conservation work focuses on Mughal-era structures and is complemented by erosion control measures like sea walls and mangrove planting. In addition, a field school training local students and professionals in rescue archaeology and digital heritage tools will also help safeguard Sindh’s rich maritime past before it is lost to climate change and neglect.
