Madrasa al-Halawiyya, located in the Old City of Aleppo UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the city’s most significant monuments, reflecting layers of Byzantine, Islamic, and Ottoman history. Severely damaged by conflict and the 2023 earthquake, parts of the structure remain at risk of collapse. Building on an initial stabilization phase, this project will continue conservation and rehabilitation works to restore the madrasa’s structural integrity and preserve its unique architectural features, including its historic prayer hall and decorative elements.
