Rehabilitating the Palmyra Museum – Preparatory Phase
Damascus, Syria
The Palmyra Museum is home to unique artifacts primarily dating from the 2nd and 3rd centuries BE. Severely affected by conflict, it requires a coordinated rehabilitation programme. This project initiates a critical preparatory phase to structure future restoration efforts in close coordination with the Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums (DGAM) and technical partners. The project will deliver comprehensive structural and architectural assessments, a preliminary museographic review, and planning for the restoration of the artifacts. It will also prepare a guide for medium- and long-term interventions. Beyond its technical outputs, the initiative plays a key coordination role to ensure that future works are technically sound and ready for implementation.
