Revitalizing Felt Traditions for Returnee Communities
Kyrgyzstan
The project supports the revival of Kyrgyz felt crafts—Ala-kiiz and Shyrdak—to boost cultural identity, climate-conscious production, and inclusive economic growth for women, youth, and returnees. Activities include setting up craft centers, hosting a regional forum, and promoting artisans through storytelling and digital outreach. The project’s goals are increasing incomes, strengthening intergenerational knowledge, and raising the profile of Kyrgyz felt heritage.
