Suzani (in Persian, Suzan means needle) is a traditional type of embroidered and decorative textile native to Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and other Central Asian countries. The project promotes sustainable practices in Uzbekistan’s traditional suzani and embroidery industries by training up to 200 artisans—mainly women and youth—in natural dyeing, eco-materials, and green business models. In partnership with local universities and textile producers, it will develop an “Eco-Heritage Business Toolkit” and run a public awareness campaign. The project blends traditional knowledge with eco-innovation to ensure the cultural and economic sustainability of Uzbek textile heritage.
