Safeguarding Cultural Heritage in the Gaza Strip against Looting and Illicit Trafficking
Palestine
Cultural collections in Gaza—including archaeological and ethnographic objects—are at growing risk due to conflict, displacement, and weakened institutional capacities. These conditions have increased exposure to looting, poor storage, and permanent loss. This project supports the safeguarding of movable heritage through rapid documentation and inventorying, while strengthening data systems and standardizing records. It also includes targeted training for heritage professionals, helping build local capacity to protect collections in a highly fragile context.
