Safeguarding the Iron-Age Legacy of Kayrit Oasis

One of Central Asia’s few known Iron Age sites, the Kayrit Oasis in Surkhan Darya region in Southern Uzbekistan, is threatened by erosion and grazing. This project will stabilize its fragile earthen structures using adapted conservation methods and involve archaeology students in the process. It will also develop on-site signage and a 3D model to improve public understanding and promote protection of the site.
