Safeguarding Wooden Sculptures at the Kasteev Museum

Two rare wooden sculptures—a 16th-century Madonna with Child and a work by Isaac Itkind, a renowned self-taught Soviet sculptor of Lithuanian Jewish origin—are at risk from structural and environmental damage. The goal of this project is to ensure their urgent conservation with French and Kazakh experts, while training local museum professionals on how to safeguard wooden heritage.
