Training Professionals to Recover Heritage After Disasters
International
Cultural heritage helps communities rebuild their lives and identity after a crisis, yet floods and other natural hazards can damage historic sites and collections in a matter of hours. In October and November 2025, ICCROM, with the Fondazione Santagata for the Economics of Culture and the Fondazione Giovanni Goria, ran the second edition of its International Training Course on Post-Crisis Recovery of Cultural Heritage (PCR-2025). The course combined online sessions with a workshop in Asti, Italy. It trained heritage professionals to assess damage and risk, plan and finance recovery, and monitor results, with a focus on floods.
