Disappearing knowledge: Protecting Afghanistan's intangible heritage

Afghanistan

This project contributes to the protection of the country’s endangered intangible heritage. Afghanistan’s cultural practices have been gravely weakened by decades of conflict, in which communities have been displaced and practices disrupted. The project aims to safeguard the following traditional practices: Decorative tile-making in Herat, Carpet weaving in Bamiyan, and Tambor-making in Kabul. They will be protected through documentation, training and awareness-raising activities.
